To be human is to harbor the need for recognition, to be seen, loved, to live the good life, to know ambition. The nature of ethics is that of a search for recognition, to look and desperately wish to know do you understand? Do you know what it means to hold something sacred?. This is what distinguishes us from an ant. Humans were given the gift and responsibility to understand what it meants to be good, to see the transcendent nature of the earth and know that something special has been done (WIKIPEDIA PAGE: EVOLUTION OF MORALITY SUBHEADING PRIMATE SOCIALITY). We are the stewards and pupils of the Earth. Respect is to see this moral significance and ability in one another and to expect others to see it in you (WIKIPEDIA PAGE: XENIA). Because we can recognize the Earth we are constantly seeking to be recognized back by Her and some wounding of the superego's development or Adam and Eve's original sin or the evolution of a specific strain of black mold has meant that we are afraid to believe that we can be seen by Her, so we seek lesser forms of recognition here on earth. We seek the best way to live. But there is still the ability to reach the understanding that we are seen and known by God, the Earth, Time/History/Future Tensem and allow ourselves to a removed from earth desires (WIKIPEDIA PAGE: NIRVANA?), and even beyond that on Earth we were gifted that need for recognition-- given a sense of our own free will, two feet, the pieta and stignmata, and we should treat our maniputability and subjectivity and flesh-- without which we would be incapable of desire at all-- not as a negation of that but as an beautiful animal which must be trained to take the good of their nature (altruism, empathy, are, ethics, romantic and platonic and familial love) and let go of the bad (power hunger, addiction, desires which counteract ethics or the way of the Earth), which is an art and a practice-- a discipline both gifted to and cursed upon humans uniquely. To read poetry and genuinely connect with it! To love your neighbor and seek this respect-- offer yours because you seek his. To nurse and evolve your need to be seen by him into something healthy. To be seen by God. To be recognized.
